An excess or imbalance of digestive acids produced by the stomach can cause a stomach ache, gas, nausea, bad breath and other symptoms. It is a common problem that affects people of all ages. Acidity can be caused due to a not having proper time table for meal, Unhealthy food, long gap between lunch, dinner, empty stomach or excessive intake of tea, coffee, smoking or alcohol.

The remedies help to treat this serious stomach disorder, which is a synonym for heartburn and acid reflux.

Here are few solution to avoid acidity –

    • hing1. Heeng (asafetida) – Consume a little bit of Heeng on a daily basis by adding it to curries and food. Or consume very small amount (small pinch) with half cup of water after eating.

Identify your digestion system’s capability – Some people eats lots of food but never had any acidity kind of problem, while some people eats normal amount of food, but they have acidity problem. Know your digestion systems capability, eat accordingly, identify which food causes acidity to you most like tuar dal, potatoes, fast food etc. Avoid or consume this food as it suit you.

 

Ayurvedic treatments to cure acidity –

  1. Heeng (asafetida) water– Take 2–3 tbsp water, and add some Heeng and mix it. Lay down on bed and put few drops in your navel (naabhi) for few minutes. This will release gas and cool down digestion system.
  2. Mint Leaves – Chew few fresh mint leaves (pudina). Its also cure acidity.
  3. Black Salt Water – Drink 1 glass of warm water with black salt powder(1 pinch), early in the morning.
  4. Vajrasan – If you had heavy food at dinner, sit for 5–10 minutes in ‘Vajrasan’ position(same as image below) just before sleep. (My husband had the acidity problem and this process helped him magically)
  5. Sleeping Position – Sleep on your left side in the night after dinner. It also helps magically. (My husband felt great result from this). Check image below to understand why we should sleep on left side.
  6. Tulsi(Basil) Leaves – Chewing on five to six tulsi leaves when you suffer from acidity is a great way to beat the discomfort you feel.
  7. Fennel(saunf)Seeds – chewing saunf after meals helps to prevent acidity.
  8. Buttermilk – Buttermilk contains lactic acid that normalizes acidity in the stomach. Sprinkle a pinch of black pepper powder or 1 teaspoon of ground coriander leaves for best results.
  9. Coconut water – It helps producing mucous in your stomach, which protects the stomach from harmful effects of excessive acid production. It is rich in fibre, it aids digestion and prevents the re-occurrence of acidity.
  10. Vegetable Raita –  Adding grated vegetables like tomatoes, coriander, or cucumbers in curd/yogurt. This definitely aids digestions and helps regulate acid in the stomach.
